ASB STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE HARVARD MODEL CONGRESS-ASIA 2007
A team of ASB High School students and their advisors from Sukhumvit campus participated in the Harvard Model Congress Asia 2007, an event held at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand from September 6-8, 2007. The conference comprised of 325 individuals - 273 students from 24 schools from 11 countries; the rest being the organizing committee members and student advisors.
At the HMC-Asia Conference, our students were encouraged to think internationally and motivated to engage in civic participation. In addition to getting some familiarization of the American Government’s processes, students also got the opportunity to sharpen their English-speaking and debate skills.
This prestigious conference provided an excellent opportunity for ASB students to work with well-trained and experienced conference staff from Harvard University, and gain more knowledge about politics while learning about government and international issues.
The American School of Bangkok is very proud of all the ASB team members as they all accomplished their goals. Of the 14 ASB delegates, all received certificates of excellence, with 11 of those 14 receiving the highest honor of "Excellence with Distinction", having completed all the Harvard staff assigned goals. Special recognition was given to Ornvera “Georgi” Assawaterakiat who received the highest number of votes from her colleagues on the President’s Cabinet (the most advanced and difficult group) and was appointed spokesperson for that group to the general assembly of all delegates at the closing ceremonies.
Congratulations!
